ISCSORE's Coronation 2007, ICS ascension to be held this Saturday
by Sara Michelle Fetters - SGN Contributing Writer

This Saturday, February 17, at the downtown Red Lion Hotel the Imperial Sovereign Court of Seattle and the Olympic and Rainier Empire (ISCSORE) present Coronation 2007, "The Presidents' Ball," celebrating the reigns of Rainier XXXII Larry Stewart Ryan and Olympia XXXV Aleksa Manila. Augmenting the usual pomp and circumstance will be a ceremony celebrating José J. Sarria, aka José I The Widow Norton, founder of the International Court System (ICS) in 1977.

The ICS is the largest GLBT organization in the World and Sarria has been that organization's head for its entire forty year history. In an event presaging Coronation, "Mamma José" as she is widely known will be stepping aside and retiring as the front person for the ICS, San Diego's Nicole Murray-Ramirez, aka Nicole the Great, is taking over leadership and ascending to the nonprofit's figurative thrown. "It's very humbling," said reigning ISCSORE Empress Manila during a recent interview, "the fact José and Nicole chose Seattle as the locale for this event I think is really wonderful."

Coronation itself will feature all the glitz and glamour usually associated with the event. Performers for the evening include Arnaldo! Drag Chanteuse, The Filipiniana Dance Company, Miss Gay Seattle XXII Smokee, the Visqueens and former San Diego Empress Lala Too. Honorary co-chairs for the event include Seattle nonprofit luminaries Tina Podlodowski of Lifelong AIDS Alliance and Ann McGettigan of Seattle Counseling Service, author and reality show winner Reichen Lehmkuhl, recording artist Kristine W and Ingersoll Gender Center founder Marsha Botzer.

Seating for the event begins at 5:00 p.m. with the show starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at the door. For more information please go to
