MOISTURE FESTIVAL: Full of life, laughter and heart
MOISTURE FESTIVAL: Full of life, laughter and heart
by E. Joyce Glasgow - SGN A&E Writer

In my opinion, the Moisture Festival is one of the best community theatrical events in Seattle all year. Comprised of very talented, energetic and creative artists from the U.S. and Europe and fun-loving, dedicated volunteers, every performance is a surprising, one-of-a-kind experience.

Along with Berlin clown Hacki Ginda's hilarious Pirate Show, some of this last week's highlights were: "Stickleback Plasticus," a surreal, manic, wacky and somewhat "off-color" ballroom dance duet from England; trapeze artist and human rabbit "Bunny LaMonte" and his "twin;" and "Chair Boy", who is totally fixated by a wooden chair.

Four young guys from Port Townsend called "Nanda," floored the audience with their phenomenal, lightening-paced, martial arts, sword fighting and great juggling.

The "Aerialistas" appeared in their sexy, scarlet, feathered costumes and hats, climbing and hanging in different positions from ceiling hung ropes.

Tom Noddy, of Santa Cruz, CA, performed his famed bubble-blowing tricks, complete with smoke, and The Fremont Players acted their suggestive, funny and silly English "Panto" style theatre bit about randy "Widow Twanky and The Copper."

"Curly Burly" is an amazing duo of acrobatic trapeze artists who thrilled the audience with their daring and powerful moves. Baby Gramps, "Lelavision," stunt artist Tom Murphy, Esther Edelman as "The Stewardess," "The Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Band" and all the other performers thoroughly entertained their sold-out audiences of adults and children.

Do not miss the final weekend of all new shows at the 2006 Moisture Festival, through April 9, at The Hale's Brewery "Palladium" at 4301 Leary Way NW. Visit for details and tickets.
