All eyes are on Hollywood this weekend, as Sunday night's Academy Awards are presented to 2005's best in film at the Kodak Theatre. My co-writer Lorelei Quenzer had the privilege of predicting this year's winners for the Seattle Gay News and I applaud her for seeing so many films in a short amount of time. She, I and millions of movie fanatics from every corner of the world will be watching the Oscars to see who wins, who looks hot, who should definitely fire their stylist and if Brokeback Mountain becomes the first Gay-themed film to capture the coveted Best Picture statue.

Gay men will undoubtedly be checking out Jake Guyllenhaal, Luke Wilson, George Clooney, Keanu Reeves, Ryan Phillippe and Keith Urban, who trades arm-candy positions with girlfriend Nicole Kidman since their first public showing at last month's Grammy Awards. Lesbian viewers are sure to howl over Uma Thurman, Jessica Alba, Naomi Watts, Hilary Swank, Charlize Theron and busty mama Queen Latifah. I'd personally go for a Gyllenhaal-Alba sandwich with a Clooney pickle and lots of Phillippe homemade ranch. Then again, at the age of forty-one Matt Dillon remains one of H-town's sexiest stars.

Whether tuning into the awards with a group of friends or at a hosted party in a restaurant-slash-bar (Manray perhaps?), cheer loudly if and when Brokeback Mountain prevails at the podium. It deserves every award it's up for. There's a lot of community support for Felicity Huffman in the Best Actress race, but Gay-adored Reese Witherspoon has equal the number of queens in her cheering section. Country legend Dolly Parton, a Gay icon dating back to the 60s, will perform her nominated song from Transamerica. Previous nominee and out actress Lily Tomlin is making an appearance on the program. My guess is she'll present a lifetime achievement honor to director Robert Altman. Hosting the gala is Emmy-winning comedic genius Jon Stewart.
